SPECIALIZING IN EARLY CALIFORNIA AND AMERICAN IMPRESSIONISM

Carmel Fine Art has for the past thirty five years offered the highest quality late 19th and early 20th century impressionism. Our focus is on the Early California Impressionist movement, featuring such renowned Southern California artists as Guy Rose, William Wendt, Edgar Payne, Franz Bischoff, Alson Clark, John Gamble, Alfred Mitchell, Maurice Braun, and Charles Fries. We present the finest examples of these, with particular focus on the Early artists painting in the Monterey Peninsula, such as Armin Hansen, William Ritschel, Selden Gile, Mary DeNeale Morgan, Charles Rollo Peters, William Silva and Albert DeRome.

In addition to the Early artists Carmel Fine Art showcases a select group of contemporary painters who carry on the tradition of painting plein air. We take in the living artists based on quality, they have to hold their own hanging next to the important Early artists, and be able to interpret the tradition in a fresh new way. They are all critically acclaimed, well respected modern masters such as John Traynor, Karl Dempwolf, John Cosby, Ray Carpenter, Sterling Hoffmann, Rodolfo Rivademar, Cathey Cadieux, Sarah Lamb, Laurie Kersey, Kim Lordier, Brian Blood, Michael Cowles, Jacalyn Beam, Ellen Howard and Gil Dellinger.
