CATHEY CADIEUX

Cathey Cadieux was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1954. She took art lessons in oils and pastels as a young girl, and always wanted to be an artist.

In 1974, Cadieux moved to Chicago to attend the American Academy of Art. Under the tutelage of such master instructors as Bill Parks, she learned classical theories about drawing, values, edges, modeling, color harmonies, and composition. After graduating with an Associate Degree in Fine Art, Cadieux moved to San Francisco for additional studies at the Academy of Art College.

In 1979, she moved back to Tulsa and established a career as a portrait painter. Maintaining a studio in the arts district, Cadieux also taught art classes, and worked for a television station doing courtroom drawing.
In 1995, Cadieux moved to Southern California where she became involved at the California Art Institute, teaching figure painting classes.

She has been an active participant with the California Art Club’s group paintouts and exhibits, including the tri-annual On Location in Malibu exhibition at the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University, for which her painting was selected to be on the cover of the invitation in 2006, and the poster in 2017. Her painting “Winter Sunset from my Bedroom” was selected as the cover for California Light, A Century of Landscapes: Paintings of the California Art Club, published in April 2011. Her paintings are also published in Painting California, Seascapes and Beach Towns, April 2017.

Cadieux has exhibited her work at the annual California Art Club Gold Medal Show since 1999.
Cadieux divides her time between her art studio on her picturesque property in Malibu, and her home in Pebble Beach where she pursues plein air painting in Monterey County and Big Sur.
Cadieux is a Member of the Portrait Society of America, a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and a Signature Artist Member of the California Art Club.

Ms. Cadieux’ work is represented by Carmel Fine Art gallery in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
