Ellen Howard is a Californian impressionist painter, celebrated for her evocative and serene landscapes that capture the fleeting essence of nature’s tranquility. As an avid explorer and traveler, Ellen draws inspiration from nature’s transitory moments and loves discovering quiet, unexplored scenes. Seeing the light move across the land, cascading off mountain ridges, filtering through the leaves, dancing on the top of the waves, and creating a beautiful ray of warmth in the sky and clouds is pure serenity. Her work evokes a sense of peace and tranquility, translating nature’s quiet power into visual poetry. Ellen finds solace and a deeper understanding of life through these transitory moments through her artistic expressions.
Her work has appeared in prestigious publications such as American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, and Plein Air Magazine. Additionally, her work was showcased in the book The Great American Paint Out by ACC Art Books. Ellen was named one of the “5 to Watch” in Fine Art Connoisseur’s August/September 2023 issue and honored as the “Spotlight Artist” in the California Art Club’s July 2023 Newsletter. Her paintings have been included in shows at the Peninsula Museum of Art, Burlingame, CA, the Triton Museum, Santa Clara, CA, Salmagundi Club, New York City, NY, and the Mendocino Art Center, CA, as well as numerous group and solo shows. Ellen teaches workshops in Northern California and abroad and is an active member of the California Art Club, currently serving as a Vice President.
Her paintings have been featured in the past seven California Art Club Annual Gold Medal Exhibitions, plus the Salmagundi Club, AIS, and NOAPS. Ellen also shares her insights and experiences through her monthly newsletter, inspiring a broader community of artists and art lovers.
