Ray Carpenter (1948 – )

Ray Carpenter studied with Daniel Greene, Donald ‘Putt’ Putman, and Howard Terpening. He studied landscape painting and portraiture at the Scottsdale Art School and later at the California College of Arts and Crafts. He also studied with California artists Gary Carter, Joe Beeler and Roy Anderson. Ray Carpenter’s world is the poetry of reality. His art is a mirror capturing human nature, myth and nocturnal mood in his Tonal California landscapes and portraits. Both the outer world and inner world, full of possibilities, meet in the painter’s feeling for mystery and natural beauty. Ray Carpenter won the First Place Award at the 8th Annual California Art Club Plein-Air Painting Event at the Mission San Juan Capistrano; his work is now in the permanent collection of the Capistrano Mission Museum.
